DawentsIT: All Things Technology This Monday-

Rise and Shine DawentsIT Readers! — it’s Tech time. I’m your host, DawentsIT.

Over the past few years, we’ve developed a new lexicon to help us discuss workplace trends. From the “Great Resignation” to “quiet quitting” and even “quiet firing,” there’s a slew of new words that encapsulate the state of work today.

Now, we’re adding a new one to the list: the “Great Hesitation.”

Let’s get into it:

ALL THINGS TECHNOLOGY NEWS YOU NEED TO KNOW TODAY

1.Amazon, Meta, and other big tech firms have entered the “Great Hesitation.” With economists and business leaders predicting a looming recession, leaders at large-cap tech companies are in an anxious waiting game — and they’re starting to cut hiring and other costs as they prepare for the storm to hit.

Companies with the largest exposure to consumer spending will be heavily impacted, one analyst said. PC and device makers — and others that sell to consumers — are at high risk now that inflation is biting into consumer spending power.
Plus, some firms, like Facebook, have already begun “quiet layoffs,” a tactic increasingly employed by companies to shed head count without the severance costs and negative publicity.
“I think all of these companies are in this so-called ‘Great Hesitation,'” one tech-investment fund leader said. “No one’s fully clear on how bad it’s going to be.”
